GVGPs

Accredited General Practices must meet a set of Standards that are designed to protect the patient. Accreditation standards for General Practice are set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

 Standards cover areas such as:

• Practice Services
• Rights and Needs of Patients 
• Quality Assurance and Education 
• Practice Administration 
• Physical Factors

 Two accreditation bodies exist for General Practice:

• AGPAL - Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited
• GPA Accreditation plus

 The Division offers support for practice accreditation and re-accreditation through:

• practice and mock survey visits, 
• help desk, 
• practice information sessions, 
• audits,  
• IM/IT assistance, 
• resource provision, 
• assistance with the adaption of generic Policy & Procedure Manuals, 
• Practice Information Sheets, 
• implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement Plans
