The Goulburn Valley Division of General Practice has vacancies for quality GPs to provide locum services to practices in the region.

The Division has townships in the City of Greater Shepparton, Shire of Moira, Shire of Campaspe and Mitchell Shire areas. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in various practices over a six to twelve month period before deciding on a permanent position.

The region offers a wide choice of living - city or rural, small towns or a farming environment. The climate is temperate with the seasons clearly defined. The Divisional Locum program can offer you a wide variety of experience - solo practices in isolated towns, rural townships with 2-6 GPs in a practice, as well as practices in a large provincial city. There are also opportunities for working with ethnic and indigenous communities.

The Division has a population of 92,786. The City of Greater Shepparton has a population of 35,084.

All the practices within the Division are situated within one hour of Shepparton. Shepparton itself is only 2 hours from Melbourne - the capital of Victoria. Shepparton is nestled in the Goulburn Valley and caters for water skiing on the Murray River, wineries and bush-walking and snow skiing in the mountains - all within a couple of hours drive.

Taxi, train and bus services are available in Shepparton.

The area has a prosperous farming sector based on both irrigated and dryland agriculture and dominated by intensive agri-based industries such as fruit growing, dairying and food processing.

The Divisional area offers a dynamic and vibrant retail and commercial centre; full complement of business services and industries; comprehensive local education and training infrastructure; excellent public and private medical services and an extensive range of cultural, business, community and social clubs and organisations.

The Division currently has vacancies for short and long term locums.

The Division is able to assist practices to fill short term vacancies when they arise through advertising on this website, contact with agencies and individual locums, and listing with the Rural Workforce Agency of Victoria (RWAV).
