The Division's Immunisation program aims to improve the quality of vaccination services provided by general practices, with the overall goal of improving immunisation rates Australia wide. A large focus of the program is the participation of general practitioners in the General Practice Immunisation (GPII) program with the outcome of improving overall immunisation coverage rates to >90% in children fully immunised under seven years of age.
The immunisation program is designed to assist GPs and their practice staff to develop and maintain a ‘best practice' immunisation service to their patients through clinical education, practice visits, resources and an advisory service.
